Dale West Video was formed in 1992 after 15 years in news, corporate and broadcast video production. We have been based in Miami since then but are now expanding to Atlanta, GA and can work throughout New England and upstate New York with White River Junction, VT as home base. Our expertise is EFP and ENG production services.
Director of Photography and lighting cameraman Dale West began his career in 1975 with INTERACT-TV at DartmouthMedical School, producing and shooting patient and physician education videos in addition to live streaming medical conferences to 6 hospitals and medical centers in New Hampshire and Vermont. From there he joined WNNE (NBC) in Hanover, New Hampshire where he shot and edited news stories as well as directed two daily newscasts. In 1980, Dale moved to KOB-TV (NBC) in Albuquerque, New Mexico where in eight months he became Chief Photographer overseeing a staff of 12 cameramen. Three years later it was on to Miami, Florida to join WSVN (NBC) as a staff photographer, winning a Technical Achievement Emmy for the first “open ocean under water live broadcast.” West was named Director of Photography for nationally syndicated “Inside Report” in 1987 and three years later moved to Los Angeles, beginning his freelance career. There he worked for NBC News, Cops, 20th Television and a large assortment of corporate clients. West returned to Miami in the early 90s and founded Dale West Video Productions. DWVP clients have literally taken him around the world and include all of the major network news and sports divisions, all of the Discovery properties as well as countless corporate and commercial outlets. DWVP was among the first Florida production companies to switch to High Definition cameras and continues to provide the most up to date equipment.
Dale’s philosophy is, “Any day looking through a viewfinder is a good day.” He understands tight deadlines and thrives on challenge. He is a member of the Society of Operating Cameramen as well as IATSE local 600, IBEW local 1200 and NABET local 31.
At Dale West Video we maintain an extensive inventory of cameras, lenses and support to bring your production to life. Our main camera is the Sony F-55 with the Canon 17-120mm zoom. We also have Zeiss CP.2 Primes to fit almost any situation. For the longer and tighter shots we use a Canon 70-200 cinevised zoom. We go out the door in a van that carries enough cameras, lighting and grip to cover at least a 2-camera shoot and can mic from 1 to 12 people.
